Dear
Jay,
I
was talking with a
well-known and respected residential architect in California the other day,
and he mentioned how much he likes the magazine. He targeted you
specifically and said you are right on target with your columns, and that he
enjoys reading your stuff each month.
Keep up the good work,
Jay. See you soon.

Subject: The Wilson
|
Jay, I showed Jackie the elevation of The Wilson and as
predicted she didn't like the stone and wood combo. She did like the
floor plan and we are interested in seeing the pictures inside. I
spoke to a friend here last night. He is a custom home builder and
we ran into each other at dinner. I told him of our conversation and
how I was impressed with your helpfulness and honesty. I was
particularly fond of you comment that to cut cost when the land was
so pricy as in Mendham some builders get it out of the bricks and
sticks I think was your quote. I appreciate your straight forward
nature and help with comments on areas you have little interest such
as Brookrace.
So back to the issue, she said if she loves the interior and the
neighborhood is good, (which means kid friendly) she would look past
the stone facade. I showed her your other homes and she was
impressed with the detail work as best as we could see. She and I
are more straight line and plain people when it comes to fixtures
and cabinets. We appreciate good craftsmanship and functionality but
prefer the basic rather than ornate.
I am looking forward to the interior pictures and am trying to
pick a time to fly up and look at a number of houses. If you have
any suggestions of your properties or others I would welcome the
input. Again I know you are in the business of building and selling
homes but you are the first that talked straight and didn't just
tell me what you thought I wanted to hear.
Thanks again.

Dear Jay:
I just wanted to take a minute to express on behalf
of the CBA membership, our Sales and Marketing Council, and for all
the students who diligently attended our "HCST"
-
"House Construction As A Selling Tool"
course, our very sincere thanks and token of appreciation for doing
such a magnificent job in presenting the material at our recently
completed course.
Trade groups are based upon people from the same
industry, often competitors, getting together to do collectively,
what they could not or would not do alone. Surely, what we have
accomplished with your help is among the best examples of what
people are able to do by working together.
I would also like to share with you the knowledge
that all our students passed "the test" with very good scores which
attests to your commitment and contribution.
Very truly yours,
Executive Vice President

Dear Jay:
Now that we are living in our beautiful new house, we wanted to take
this opportunity to tell you first hand what a quality organization
you have.
From the onset, quality construction was our top priority in
choosing a builder. After touring through other Grant Homes, we felt
confident that your organization would meet our expectations. Your
organization provided us with the best service and advice from the
beginning (the selection of VJM Architecture for the design of the
house) to the end of the project.
In building our custom home, we liked being an integral part of the
building process and seeing all contractors’ bids. We felt
comfortable with "The Cost Plus" program that enabled us to see all
bids and invoices as they came in. There was never any question if
we were not satisfied with certain bids, we were always able to
request additional bids. We found this close relationship with your
organization to be fundamental to the success of the project - we
were able to deal smoothly and quickly with the multiple choices and
complex decisions needed during the building process.
Jay, you were helpful and responsive to our needs and always had our
best interest as your first priority. We enjoyed working with you
and your organization.
Very truly yours,
Juan M.

Dear Jay:
As we enter the home stretch of the building process of our custom
home, I wanted to express our overall satisfaction with the process
thus far. The quality of your work was evident to us before signing
the contract, as we were able to view other homes in the
neighborhood that you had built. We also talked to the owners of
these homes and found that they were generally pleased with their
building experiences. At this stage in our building process, we can
attest to the quality of construction and attention to detail that
we had hoped to experience.
After our attorney spoke with you
when reviewing the initial contract, he told us that he could not
remember a builder in his experience, that was such a pleasure to
deal with, and that if our building process went as smoothly as the
contract negotiation, we would indeed be lucky to have chosen your
company. It seems he was clairvoyant. The architect you introduced
us had great ideas. He listened to all our input and truly made the
house our own taking into consideration not only sound structure and
aesthetics, but also the details such as efficiency, furniture
placement. He worked carefully and expeditiously to arrive at the
plan which reflected just what we wanted.
By giving us your cell phone number,
and encouraging us to use it with any questions or concerns, right
at the onset of the process you made us feel as though you would
always be accessible. This has proven to be true as you have always
responded to our concerns in a prompt manner.
We appreciate that you have had our
best interests at heart. You've helped us to make decisions that
ensure that our money has been spent wisely. You even told us at
times not , to spend money on certain items that you thought in you
experience were not necessary. From the beginning we have felt
comfortable in your hands with your breadth of building expertise as
well as your sound and fair business sense.
Your staff has been equally
responsive. Both your Project Manager and Customer Service Manager,
with whom I have worked extremely closely, are very professional and
a pleasure to deal with. They always received my calls in a positive
manner, and addressed my concerns in a timely fashion, which served
to strengthen our builder/client relationship. There has never been
a question in their minds that I am the client, and the client gets
what the client wants. When you are investing your time and money in
your future home, this is important.
People often ask when we'll be moving
into the new house. When I tell them the target date you gave us,
they usually say, "So when do you really think you'll be in?" I
respond that I fully expect to be in when our builder told us we'd
be in. So far we have hit every target date through the process. We
signed our contract just about a year ago. Our achitechturals were
completed within three months and we broke ground two months later.
At this stage, having moved along at a steady pace, we are ready for
sheet rock and are right on target to make our projected closing
date four months from now.
We look forward to sitting down to
dinner in our new home with you and our architect to toast this
momentous collaborative effort.
Sincerely,
MA

Jay:
We just finished visiting your new construction
home at #1 Water's Edge - it is a beautiful home...but I have no clues
what I would do with a 4-car garage and 6100 square feet of
space. We are now empty nesters having cut down on living
space, but this house is ideal for a young couple with kids.
You build 'em good and solid and wish you luck in the future

Dear Jay:
I just wanted to drop you a note
to thank you for the wonderful experience we had buying a Grant Home. We
love our new home and continue to feel like we're on vacation living here
amongst the luxuries of this beautiful house and it's most peaceful
setting. After having had 3 children, all under 3 years of age, we did not
have the time to put work into an older home. This home is perfect for us
with its extensive details. One of my favorite rooms is the Master Bath
where I can retreat to a Spa-like Life and relax in the Jacuzzi or the
luxurious shower. This puts some sanity back into my hectic lifestyle!
All of your contractors on your
staff were excellent, and I have even hired many of them to do extra work
in the house. The closing and moving in process was a breeze, which was a
welcome surprise to what can often be a very stressful time.
Jay, you are a man of your word.
Within a week of moving in, all the final punch list details were taken
care of. You responded promptly to all of our needs.
It was a pleasure to have done
business with you!
Very truly yours,
L.S.

| October 18,1998 Dear Jay,
This is our third experience building a house. I can honestly say that I have never
worked with a project manager that is as organized, professional, courteous, and
technically sound as Dave. You have found a talented, dedicated worker. He is a pleasure
to work with. In addition, Andy and Rocco follow the same protocol. I have never had a
contractor perform work in my home and then vacuum up the mess!
I wanted to take the time out to recognize their efforts. Their time schedule can be
challenging at times, but they manage it admirably.
Enjoy the upcoming holidays with your family.
Sincerely

Dear Jay:
It is with great pleasure that we write this letter of recommendation. From the time we
first met in August 1997 until we moved into our new house in February 1998, it has been a
pleasure working with you.
You spent a lot of time with us as perspective buyers, showing us the site, the plans
and explaining our options. Never was there a hard sell. We explored may options - we
brought several ideas and you made several suggestions. Once we agreed on the contract and
extras, we were not pressured for other options or for things we "forgot".
Work proceeded in a timely fashion and as we requested quotes for changes we were
considering, we found your responses to be reasonably priced and you left it as clearly
our choice.
The craftsmanship of all the contractors was top notch. As we are settling in, we
continue to be pleased with the quality of the work. We closed within 3 days of our target
and you have been most accommodating in fixing the few, small imperfections we have found.
We wholeheartedly recommend Grant Ventures to our friends and have in fact sent a few
to you already.
Thanks again for making this now experience for us as enjoyable as it was. |

Dear Jay:
I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you for the wonderful experience we are
having building a custom home with you. As you know, we entered into this venture with
tremendous trepidation and apprehension primarily due to friends and relatives who have
built homes and provided us with a list of caveats - Comments such as "It's going to
cost at least 30% more than you expect," and "Add at least three months to the
builder's time-table," and "Don't trust the builder's contractors." Well,
none of these comments have held any validity with us. In fact, we are close to budget,
the house is ahead of schedule, and your contractors are the most professional and
knowledgeable contractors that I have ever worked with, such that I would hire each of
them again for future projects.
As you also know, I am extremely detailed oriented. Often, I find that in home
improvement projects I am the one to catch a detail that needs attention before a
contractor does. This has not happened once for us in working with your contractors. All
issues and areas for further thought have all been addressed to us early on, so that we
never felt we missed any detail that should have been noticed.
Your project manager, Dave is one-of-kind professional, patient, and experienced man.
His guidance and understanding of the concern we feel for each and every decision gives us
tremendous comfort and reassurance. We never have felt any apprehension in approaching him
on any questions or comments. He's a gem!
Jay, I have no doubt that the remaining time on this project will follow the same
smooth path as it has thus far. We are excited about moving into the home of our dreams.
Fondly,

Dear Jay.
Six months into our Grant house, we just wanted to tell you how delighted we are with
our new home. The site selection, building plans and construction process were all superb.
We felt involved in building the house but we also came to know there were experts around
who could turn our plans into reality and help us avoid any first-time building errors.
And now that we are all settled in at we really enjoy the layout, the craftsmanship and
the quality details. We also appreciate all the great follow-through: especially the work
done by Dave.
You and your team have been totally professional in our dealings and have even gone the
extra step in helping us to assimilate into Morris County. Let us know when you start
building on the reservoir.

Dear Jay:
I wanted to write you a short note to thank you for the effort and diligence you
displayed in building our new home. You and your staff were great to deal with over the
past six months.
Many people have assumed, having just built a new home, that I went over budget, I hate
my builder and my marriage is on the rocks - I always respond, "NOT TRUE"!!
While I have to admit to having some trepidation going into the project, I now look back
on the experience with nothing but positive recollections.
I would (and have!) recommended you to a number of people as a responsive,
custom-builder who exceeds customer expectations. Please feel free to show our home to
prospective clients who want to see the quality of your work.
Thank you again.
Very truly yours,
