About NAHB

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is a federation of more than 800 state and local builders associations throughout the United States. The mission of this Washington, D.C.-based trade association is to enhance the climate for housing and the building industry, and to promote policies that will keep housing a national priority. Chief among NAHB’s goals is providing and expanding opportunities for all consumers to have safe, decent and affordable housing.

About one-third of NAHB’s 203,000 members are home builders and/or remodelers. The remainder of the membership consists of associates working in closely related fields -- such as mortgage finance and building products and services -- within the housing industry.

As "The Voice of America's Housing Industry," NAHB is dedicated to serving the needs of individual members as well as affiliated state and local associations. It provides a wide range of services to help members maintain a competitive edge in a very competitive business climate and to help state and local associations meet their members’ needs.

NAHB's various divisions analyze policy issues, take the industry's story to the public, monitor and work toward improving the housing finance system, and analyze and forecast economic trends. The association also represents the industry's interests on Capitol Hill and strives to ensure that housing remains a national priority when laws are made and policies are established. It also works with federal agencies on regulations affecting the housing industry in areas such as mortgage finance, codes, energy and the environment.
